Busy with kids, and gift making (photos will come eventually), and having some time off from almost everything to read a couple of books.
My book club is reading Francine Rivers' new book called "Her mother's hope", it was a beautiful story, and throughout I picked up on the wounds both lead characters were dealt, and the hurts and anger I felt for them both. It made me cry, both with joy and sadness. I imagined their surroundings and I imagined how hard it was during the Wars for both women. It was made all the more real upon reading the Authors note. If you get a chance to read this book, do! It was a brilliant, well written, look back at the times and lives of two women, mother and daughter.
The other I read, also a Francine Rivers, was 'Atonement Child'. Again I was able to relate to the main character, although what happened to her thankfully did not happen to me.
Throughout both books is what I will call "God-tones", showing me that in all things God has a plan, He knows the outcome, He knows how you will fare in the fight, He knows that when you turn to look at Him all things will come good. His plan is not to harm those who love Him, but to grow and stretch, and for good!
Our God is an awesome God,
He reigns from heaven above,
with wisdom power and love,
Our God is an awesome God.
He reigns from heaven above,
with wisdom power and love,
Our God is an awesome God.
Have you read any books that speak to your heart, that you couldn't put down, that you want to share with everyone you know? Let me know, I might just feel the same!
PS I read this blog today and loved the poem quoted sooo much I thought I'd post it here too! Thank you Leslie and the girls from My Favourite Things.

Song for a Fifth Child
- by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
Ohhh...you're right...that is an amazing poem...love it..thanks for sharing.
